Modern War Films
War films are the most terrifying of evils because they are real. It is not something that Hollywood conjured up to scare or thrill the viewers. People have fought wars and have been subjected to consequences of its wrath for centuries. The portrayal of war in film awakens the mind to the brutality and horror that has haunted its victims and survivors in history. Modern war film posters have become a big part of my collection.
The soldiers in this classic film are willing to put their own life on the line to send the only living son back to parents who have lost all their other sons to the same war. "My goodness, and my fortress; my high tower, and my deliverer; my shield, and he in whom I trust; who subdueth my people under me." "Men of Honor" tells the story of Carl Brashear, the first African-American to make it through the Navy's gruelling diving program and become a Master Chief, despite losing his leg on a mission. Cuba Gooding Jr. portrayed this character to the letter giving us insight into what people of color had to do to be considered for elite positions in war. I was moved in a big way as I watched how unbreakable the human spirit is when people follow their dreams. Like war movies? Check out my classic war films page.
