A
Tribute to James Bond
“The name’s
Bond. James Bond”. One of the most famous fictional spies of the
twentieth century, James Bond has become a pop culture icon known throughout
the world who enjoys his martini “shaken, not stirred”. Created
by author Ian Fleming, the character of James Bond made his first appearance
on the world stage in 1952 in the mystery novel entitled Casino Royale
and soon went on to become a veritable Hollywood franchise. Since that
time, James Bond, or Agent 007 as he is better known to his fans around
the globe, has starred in twenty-one feature length films, including twenty
official releases produced by United Artists and one unofficial release
produced by Warner Brothers (1983’s Never Say Never Again starring
Sean Connery), not to mention a 1954 made-for-TV production of Casino
Royale.
With his witty one-liners, sophisticated British charm and unprecedented
appeal to members of the opposite sex, fans of the James Bond movies know
that for every villain there is an equally beautiful Bond girl just waiting
to be swept off her feet by the master of seduction himself. Played by
no less than five different actors over the course of the past four decades,
including fan favourites Sir Sean Connery, Sir Roger Moore
and one-hit wonder George Lazenby, as well as Timothy Dalton
and Pierce Brosnan, each one has been immortalized in a series
of collectible James Bond movie posters for future generations of fans
to enjoy. Whether he’s saddling up with one of the famous Bond girls
or fulfilling his duties as one of Her Majesty’s most trusted secret
agents, the James Bond name is a part of movie-making history that shows
no signs of slowing down.
