Horror Films
"The Exorcist" is a classic horror film that can get a rise out of me every time I see the film poster or watch the movie. There is something so haunting about the way demons are portrayed in this film. You can not shake the darkness associated with the picture of the little girl possessed by evil. None of the many horror films that have come out since can compare. Anyone I have ever talked to about this film has agreed that it is still among the top ten scariest movies of all time. "The Silence of the Lambs" was a shocking and disturbing film that had all the right elements of horror. Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of the evil Hannibal Lecter was truly haunting. This film is a psychological thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. With a sequel (Hannibal) and a prequel (Red Dragon) breaking records at the box office and the video stores, this series has demonstrated Hannibal's thirst for death and a blatant disregard for human life. While there have been many great horror films in the past few decades, "Jaws" still stands as one of my all time favourites. One has to appreciate horror films of the past that carried their weight from start to finish even before computer generated special effects came about. Classic cult and horror films relied heavily on music, a great story and the right direction as can be seen in the classic film "Jaws." The musical score in this film set the mood of intensity as we watched and anticipated Jaws' next move.
"Tell me, Clarice- have the lambs stopped screaming?" Of course, other great horror movies need their own page dedicated to them, for example Freddy vs Jason; horror's greatest villains. |
