The Gangster movie genre is as old as the movie industry itself. These films and their film posters are absolute classics. The audience gets a candid look at the power of money and the ruthless and violent means some will use to get their hands on it.

Al Pacino is the ultimate gangster actor whose long and eventful career has provided fans with great characters in many hit movies. Over the years film posters have captured this actor in gangster roles portraying such memorable characters such as Michael Corleone in The Godfather and Tony Montana in Scarface.

The Godfather is one of my all time favourites. It is an unmatchable gangster film starring some of the greatest actors of all time including Al Pacino and Marlon Brando. These incredible actors have set the stage for every gangster movie that has come since. Since its debut in 1972 every consequent gangster film has been judged by its high standards.

The Godfather is a series of mini-climaxes, building up to one devastating, definitive conclusion; one man's attempt to stay on top and protect his family from the dark dealings and violence of the underworld. The Godfather was not built upon stereotypes although certain ones were formed as a result of it. To its credit it had ten Academy Award nominations and has been deemed a compelling experience to those who love a great mob movie.

When casting the character Michael Corleone, execs at Paramount thought Al Pacino was "too short" and "too Italian" to play the role. Francis Ford Coppolla backed him up and so he was cast for the part. In retrospect, we could not have seen anyone better for the role.

Scarface is another one of my favourite gangster films starring the great Al Pacino who has proven to be capable of giving us the ultimate performance. It is what I consider to be the boldest, most potent and violently-brutal gangster-crime film ever made.

Tony Montana, the cocky political refugee is in search of the American dream and he is not afraid to kill anyone who gets in his way. His macho attitude and memorable expressions keep viewers on the edge of their seats with phrases like these;

"All I have in this world is my word and my balls and I don't break them for no one."

"Say hello to my little friend."
